Three Classic Blazers That Stand the Test of Time
When it comes to personal style, I definitely prefer to invest in pieces that will stand the test of time. I love pieces that are timeless, that could come from any decade and still look fashionable. If The Blue Hydrangeas is still in existence 30 years from now (and who knows where blogs will be by then!), I want the pieces that I choose to feature here are pieces that have always”sparked joy” at any time in my life. When I look at style icons such as Grace Kelley or Jacqueline Onassis the pieces they wear have a timeless look to them. I’ve always wanted my own style to be like that, as their styles are classic, yet they are a constant source of new fashion inspiration. And nothing is more classic than a chic blazer that you can dress up or dress down. Especially in cooler weather, I always find myself reaching for my blazers. And when it comes to “purging” my closet from time to time, it’s the blazers that I never can part with!
The Camel Blazer
A camel blazer is definitely a closet essential. Camel is a color that works well with just about anything, and it is a wonderful color to wear to transition form summer to fall. With warmer temperatures, style it over a breezy floral dress to give it some structure. When the cooler temperatures arrive wear it to tone down bold prints and textures. Much like the classic black pump, a camel blazer will go with just about any outfit, for any occasion. And a camel blazer is a great way to add instant polish to any look!
Here I am wearing the J. Crew Regent Blazer. I’ve had his blazer for two years, and it is such a classic piece that J. Crew brought it back again this year! Hands down this is the best blazer I have ever owned! This blazer is sharp, slimming, and can make a simple outfit of jeans and a t-shirt look stylish. The wool material isn’t itchy at all, and the quality is impeccable. I can see why J. Crew brought it back! This blazer is the perfect way to balance the textures and pattens of this striped t-shirt and this colorful scarf. And my white jeans give this entire look a light and airy feel.
The Classic Plaid Blazer
If you are looking to add instant style to jeans and a t-shirt or to add a an elegant layer to a skirt or dress the classic plaid blazer is the way to go! A plaid blazer is a natural choice in the fall and winter months as they are typically made of heavier materials. And I can see why a plaid blazer would withstand the trend test, as it is a versatile piece that works with anything!
This classic glen plaid blazer by 1.STATE is one of my favorite pieces of the season! Unfortunately it sold out, but there are so many other similar ones you can find. A plaid blazer such as this one is the perfect day to night blazer. Style with black pants or a skirt for a professional look for the office. For a casual yet chic lunch date look style it with jeans and a fun graphic tee. For an evening look style it like I am here with a black cami, ripped denim jeans, and black suede heels.
The Pastel Blazer
If you are looking for a blazer that you can wear year round, the pastel blazer is the perfect choice! Pastel colors that are popular yet timeless include pink, lavender, and blue. A pastel blazer gives a touch of the unexpected to any outfit. Again, a pastel blazer looks great styled with jeans or a flattering summer dress. Wear it to work with a nice pair of dress pants. And my favorite pastel color by far for a blazer is pink! When you wear a pink blazer you are adding instant shine as well as sophistication to an otherwise ordinary look. With spring just around the corner, now is the time to be wearing your favorite pastel blazer!
I picked up this lovely pink blazer earlier this season. It has been one of my favorite pieces to wear to work! Unfortunately too this blazer sold out but I also like this one by Loft as well as this one. Wearing a pink blazer is a great way to balance out a stronger pattern or texture. For a more casual look I am wearing it with a complementary navy cashmere sweater with pink stars and a pair of skinny jeans. I received so many complements when I wore this look!
I hope you have enjoyed to todays post, and I hope it has given you lots of style inspiration for the week. And as always, thanks for stopping by!
