It’s the most wonderful time of the year – the song I sing to myself when decorating for the holidays and pretending it is not freezing cold outside. Today’s post is a fun one, and one of my favorite posts to do! We finally have our home decorated for the holidays, and I am so excited to show it to you! As I’ve said before I love home decor just as much as I do fashion, and decorating for the holidays is always so much fun. It is especially fun when the kids are little and they get so excited about Christmas!

For our entryway this year I opted to use live cedar garland for my staircase and mantle. You can find it at your local home and garden store like I did, or Crate and Barrel offers this one that can be delivered to your home. With the addition of fragrant pine cones the scent fills the home with a wonderful aroma that is perfect for the holidays. To add some detail I made bows using this silk ribbon and this velvet  ribbon I found on Etsy. I just love the way it looks!

This year we are hosting Christmas dinner at my home. I will be cooking two separate dinners, one for my family and one for my husband’s family. Luckily we have a huge dining room table that will fit everyone. I have so much fun creating tablescapes, and the holidays are no exception. This year I decided to use these plaid dinner  plates and these fun reindeer salad plates. With red napkins, silver chargers, and silver napkin rings, the table looks so elegant and festive at the same time!

This white ornament tree creates a wonderful display for your table top or buffet. And you can hang heirloom ornaments on it too.

For the bar cart, this year I opted to decorate it with a white poinsettia, just to be different.

I just love the look of a flocked Christmas tree. I purchased mine last year on Hayneedle. My tree is sold out but this one is very similar. A flocked Christmas tree is messy, but is well worth it. And decorating is easy too as the tree looks practically decorated with nothing on it. I did add a few new ornaments this year, including this glam Eiffel Tower ornament.

The stockings were certainly hung by the chimney with care (by me!). For a classic look, we decided to use simple white velvet stockings this year. We still kept our old ones though as it is nice to switch things up from year to year. My adorable reindeer stocking holders are sold out, but these are very similar (and I really like the gold!).

I had so much fun decorating the coffee table for the holidays. My white lacquer tray from West Elm set the stage. I added a few holiday coffee table books (this fun cookbook and this classic Norman Rockwell book). These fun antlers look great on top of the books. I added these golden wire trees as a main centerpiece. This fun candy cane candle and these red and white pillar candles are the perfect accent pieces too!

What really makes the holidays fun for us is when the kids believe in Santa. My boys are still unsuspecting. My girls learned the “truth” but they definitely play along. Allison, my youngest, even said “I’m sending Santa a coupon so he can buy me more presents!”. Thinking like a true fashionista at the age of ten!

I hope you have enjoyed reading today’s post just as much as I have writing it. And I hope you have a wonderful holiday with your family too!
