Share the Moments with Talbots

The holidays are here and it really is one of the most wonderful times of the year! The best part of the holidays is coming together with family and friends in order to share experiences, and to look forward to the future. Our family has so many holiday traditions that we celebrate each year. One of our favorite traditions is to see the Walk of Trees in downtown Plymouth, Michigan. This yearly event is meant to honor those that have passed. Each tree symbolizes the memory of a person who died, and they are decorated by a local family, club or business. The entire downtown comes alive when these trees are lit! Our family loves to see the trees and walk around the city together during the holidays.

I am reminded all the time about how fortunate I am to have a happy and healthy family. I want to make each child feel special during the holidays. With four kids this can be hard to do, but I try to spend one-on-one time with each of them. Even if it is just for a short time, it means so much to them. So part of the evening that we went to the Walk of Trees this year I got to spend time with my middle daughter!

The weather was chilly that night so we bundled up in our favorite fashions from Talbots! The Carnival Fair Isle Sweater with it’s colorful pattern and whimsical pom-pom detail is perfect for the evening. I wanted to add color to the outfit so I am also wearing this Ruffle Neck jacket from Talbots as well. I received a lovely gift box from Talbots that had this hat and this scarf in it, and I thought they would be the perfect way to keep my daughter warm. Together we coordinated so well!

The Carnival Fair Isle sweater is a modern take on a classic wardrobe staple. The vibrant colors really do make this sweater fun to wear. Not seen is a button placket on the back of the sweater and this adds an extra element of detail. I am wearing an XS Regular it it fits perfectly. I am wearing it with jeans, boots, and the ruffle hem jacket, but it could easily be worn with slacks as well. The sweater is very well made and will last for years!

Other Favorite Family Traditions

In addition to the Walk of Trees we have several other family traditions:

  • Decorating the Home – The day after Thanksgiving is when the tree goes up in our house (see it here in this post). It is a family affair when we do this! The kids love picking out the ornaments and we have so much fun decorating the tree.
  • Portable North Pole – My kids love getting a personalized message from Santa each year. They are always surprised to see that Santa knows who they are, what they want, and all the details about their lives.
  • Christmas Eve with the Grandparents –  Christmas day is spent with our immediate family. However on Christmas Eve we get together with the grandparents and cousins for a gift exchange. It is a fun way to ease the excitement the kids have for Christmas morning.
  • Making a Gingerbread Home – This is one of our newer traditions, but my girls have so much fun building their very own gingerbread home (and my boys love to eat it!).
  • Waffles Christmas morning – When all is said and done after opening gifts, I love to make homemade waffles for everyone to enjoy!

So what are some of your favorite family traditions? Leave a comment below, as I would love to hear about your family too.

As always, thanks for looking!

  1. Mother/Daughter time is the best! It’s my first Christmas away from home and being able to do a bit of shopping and decorate the tree with my Mom meant so much. Merry Christmas to you!
