Guest Bedroom Reveal
We moved into our new home in 2014 and even though we have been here for three years, decorating it has always been a work in progress. There is always room for something new in each room it seems – a new shelf, artwork, or rug. It is these finishing touches that really make a room complete. One of the first rooms we were able to complete is our guest bedroom. We often have friends and family coming from out of town, and I wanted them to have a serene and relaxing place to stay when they visit!
The bed is obviously the centerpiece in any room. I wanted a tufted headboard for the bed, and I found this Riley upholstered wingback headboard at Wayfair. The headboard is quite affordable, and it looks much more expensive than it costs! Assembly ia easy, and the headboard attaches perfectly to the full size bed frame I already had for the bed. The bedding itself is the Wyeth Duvet Cover and Shams from Serena and Lily. I had been eying this set ever since I found it on Houzz, and I was so glad it was still available at Serena and Lily. The symmetrical pattern is eye catching, yet the design is subtle enough to go with many different designs. Unfortunately the Wyeth did sell out completely, so if I had to choose again I would choose the Priano Duvet Cover that is very similar in style.
I wanted a full-length mirror for the room. When looking for a mirror, I wanted something more distinctive for the room. The Parsons Floor Mirror from West Elm with it’s herringbone pattern adds the perfect amount of dimension and texture to the room.
Minted Fine Art Prints
A room is not complete without art on the walls! I’ve shopped at Minted for years for holiday cards, but did you also know they also offer fine art prints? Minted has a large selection of fine art prints from which to choose. Each print is limited edition created by independent artists with only 350 prints made per size and colorway. I decided on the “All is Quiet” art print by Jenni Kupelian, as this majestic pony staring right at you is simply mesmerizing! I chose a whitewashed herringbone frame with a white matte board to frame this print. This art piece is such a lovely centerpiece for the room!
Minted Photo Art Gifts
In addition to fine art prints, Minted also offers photo art gifts. Photo art gifts are a wonderful way to showcase family pictures, baby pictures, and milestone pictures. We recently had our family photos taken (see them in this post) and this Family Monogram Art Print given to me by Minted is the perfect way to display them in a collage! This photo art print really will become a family heirloom that we will keep for generations.
Nectar Mattress Review
Our new bed for the guest bedroom deserves a new mattress. I was recently given a Nectar Mattress to try, and I thought it would be perfect perfect for this room. As for the mattress itself, I did sleep on it to give an honest review and overall I am very impressed! Check out my video below that shows the unboxing of our new Nectar mattress.
My overall impression of the Nectar mattress is very positive. The Nectar mattress is the perfect blend of a memory foam mattress and a traditional innerspring mattress. The Nectar mattress uses a combination of base foam, adaptive hi core memory foam, and gel memory foam to provide firm support. Topping all of this is a layer of quilted gel memory foam that contours your body and adding loft to the mattress, ultimately avoiding the issue of pressure points created by a traditional innerspring mattress. Covering all of this is the Tencel® cooling cover, which promotes air circulation, heat wicking, and is bedbug resistant. Nectar will even replace your Tencel cooling cover, should you ever need it replaced.
Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress
So how does the Nectar mattress feel when it comes to sleep? The Nectar mattress is a relatively firm mattress, which I actually like. The base layers of memory foam provide this support. At the same time the quilted gel memory foam is soft, and it readily conformed to the shape of my body, without causing pressure points. This what I really like about the Nectar mattress! The firmness of the Nectar mattress extends all the way to the edge, providing all the edge support needed for a firm mattress. The Nectar mattress is designed to support weight, and is capable of supporting up to 800 pounds of combined weight. If your sleep partner moves around a lot when they sleep, the Nectar mattress is also good at minimizing motion transfer.
My only minor critique is that I did find the mattress to be slightly hot, but I also think this is because the room where it is in is also on the warmer side. This was not enough to dissuade me from sleeping on this bed again, I will just lower the room temperature.
Nectar is both Certi-PUR US and OEKO-TEX certified, which means the manufacturing of the mattress meet rigorous regulatory standards. Nectar also offers an industry-leading 365 night sleep trial. So you have an entire year to decide if the Nectar mattress is right for you. In addition Nectar offers a full lifetime warranty. The Nectar mattress is well priced right now at $575 for the full size. It even comes with two free memory foam pillows, which I also find to be very comfortable!
Overall, I am very pleased with the Nectar Mattress, and would definitely buy one in the future! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions.
As always, thanks for looking!

I have a Nectar and it’s perfect for a guest room! It’s comfortable but still is inexpensive enough to get. I love how you decorated the guest room, so beautiful and simple
The room looks amazing! I am curious if you had any problems with delivery of the mattress? We were very interested in buying one but on-line reviews were problems with back dated deliveries for months. Just looking for input, thank you! Also where is the zig zag large mirror from?
Shelly…You ask a good question. I did not have any issues at all with delivery. I got it within a few days of ordering it. And my mirror came from my stone. See my link to it in the room details block. I hope this helps!
I love the mattress-in-a-box concept! It’s so unique and comfy!
