I am excited to share with you today a post that is a little different from my typical fashion posts. As much as I love fashion, I also love interior design! We built our house from scratch a little over three years ago, and the final touches are still a work in progress. One of the first rooms that is “complete” in our home is our master bedroom. Our family life borders on controlled chaos so much of the time, and it is so important to have a peaceful, calming retreat that is an escape from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives.  It was because of this that I made it a point to have our master bedroom finished when we moved into our new home.

When it came to designing our master bedroom, I enlisted the help of Tiffany Barnes of Beckham Barnes Interiors out of the Michigan Design Center.  Tiffany was such a pleasure to work with as she listened to my strong opinions and was able to blend my ideas perfectly with her own. One of the biggest reasons I chose to work with an interior designer is the access to beautiful fabrics not found in most retail furniture and fabric stores. By having access to so many different high-end fabrics, we were able to coordinate patterns and textures to come up with a pleasing design in my favorite color palette.

Even though the major aspects of the room were completed with the help of Beckham Barnes Interiors, the small touches are all my own. This gold leaf rose was given to me as a keepsake by my husband. The wood ornaments symbolize our growing family. I love having special mementos displayed in our room as a reminder of happy memories.
