Forever Fierce: Bridging the Gap
Today’s post is a little different from my usual fashion/beauty/lifestyle posts. Today is the launch of the Bridging the Gap campaign, where 200 influencers have come together to be a force for societal change. “We are stronger together” is the idea behind the Bridging the Gap campaign, founded by the inspiring and passionate Catherine Grace O’Connell, the woman behind the blog CatherineGraceO. The idea is to bring together Millennial and Midlife bloggers to blur artificial boundaries and encourage reciprocal mentorship. What is reciprocal membership? This is the way of bringing the generations together by each sharing their unique gifts with the other. As a fairly young Midlifer (I prefer the term Generation X) I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this campaign!
So without further ado I introduce to you the Millennial blogger I have been paired with – Nita Mann of the fashion and lifestyle blog Next with Nita.
Hi you guys! I’m so honored to write a little snippet about me on April’s page! We’ve been following each other for a while and she is just the sweetest! To make things a little easier, I’ll format it in a little Q&A format so you can navigate through pretty easily. Let’s get started!
When did you decide to pursue blogging full-time?
I started my blog during my first year of law school 3 years ago and that was my creative outlet for a while. Blogging was a way for me to add a little color in my life and relieve some stress! After a few years when I began to notice a loyal following, I spent some time with myself and God just rethinking my life and my career ahead. I really loved what I was doing and if I was able to do it full-time, why not? After graduation, I decided to hold off on the BAR exam because my husband and I weren’t sure if we would still be living in LA once our lease was up. Long story short, we are actually moving to LA at the end of this month primarily so that I can pursue blogging in a more fast-paced environment. My husband actually got an amazing job out in Burbank too so it worked out perfectly! For those that are wondering, I do plan to take the BAR exam but it won’t be in Texas—it’ll be in California! J I still hope to work on animal law and policy work during my spare time.
What’s your niche?
Like I said earlier, I started my blog in order to add a little color in my life. I always try and incorporate a little pop of color in my outfits if I’m wearing neutrals or I’ll already being wearing a tons of bold colors as it is. I started my blog sharing current trends, beauty favorites and a little bit of what was going on in my life. Essentially, I created my business around my lifestyle and not much has changed since then. I always try and post what is on trend and modern with a pop of color!
Why did you join the Bridging the Gap campaign?
It’s all about networking in this industry and this is right up my alley! I love meeting new people and getting to hear about their journey along the way. I’m a millennial and so teaming up with someone in Generation X is definitely inspiring and motivating for me to keep on going! I love following mom bloggers and April is seriously such a gem!
My husband and I just celebrated our one-year anniversary a few days ago so I I still consider us newlyweds! We don’t have kids yet but I’m definitely a dog momma! J That’s the thing, you guys. I love how diverse the blogging industry is! You have youngin’s that are in their teens just posting their day-to-day life and then you have people like me that are married and posting about marriage, fashion, beauty, etc and then you have mom bloggers that are just way too fun not to follow! I’m so excited to be part of such a diverse and exciting campaign and I hope you all enjoyed reading this! J
this is such a cool idea!
xo!
