Back to School Shopping at Briarwood Mall
August is here and that means the first day of school is just around the corner. If you are a mom like me, then you know this is the time when you are shopping for school for all of your kids. Online shopping is nice, but with kids growing up so fast it is nice to be able to go into a physical store and actually try things on to make sure they fit. Where do I go for all of my back to school needs? Briarwood Mall is the premiere shopping experience in Ann Arbor, and it is definiely our first choice for all of our back to school needs! Whether it is clothes, backpacks, school supplies or shoes, Briarwood Mall has it all in one convenient place!
Children’s Clothing at Briarwood Mall
Obviously, when it comes to mall shopping, clothing what comes to mind. I have been shopping at the local mall for my kids clothing since even before they were born. Briarwood Mall has all my favorite stores for children’s clothing:
Gymboree: I like this store for basic, everyday clothing for my kids. Gymboree has so many choices when it comes to tops, pants, dresses, sleepwear and undergarments. Their prices are affordable and the frequent sales (and Gymbucks!) entice me to come back on a regular basis. I am very thankful that the Gymboree at Briarwood is here to stay, as hundreds of other stores across the country are closing.
Sears: One does not normally think about kids’ clothes at Sears. However Land’s End recently came into Sears and I have really been impressed with the quality and selection available in the store. I have been buying their backpacks and lunch boxes for years, and it is nice to see them in person. Better yet, all backpacks and lunch boxes are 40% off right now.
Justice: Justice is “awesome” according to my tween girls! My girls love the clothes and I love the accessories. Our shopping trip is not complete until we head into this store. We usually do not make it out empty handed.
Gap Kids: When it comes to coats, jeans, and other basic clothes for my kids, Gap has been one of my favorite stores for years. The clothes are good quality, and the styles are well-liked by my kids. Frequent sales make shopping at Gap for your whole family affordable. Right now Gap is having up to 50% off everything (with an extra 20% off on line orders and free shipping with code FORYOU).

Vera Bradley for Back to School
When one thinks of Vera Bradley, colorful paisley bags and travel gear come to mind. But did you know that Vera Bradley has everything you and your child need to start the school year? You can find backpacks, lunch boxes, tote bags, desk and stationary supplies and even sleepwear at Vera Bradley! The Lighten Up backpack is our favorite from their collection this season. This backpack is lightweight, spacious, and designed to last for years. There’s a padded compartment for your laptop, and lots of pockets for pens, files and papers. Most importantly, this bag also water-repellent. I don’t have to worry about my kids tearing up these backpacks anytime soon!
Von Maur for Shoes
Ever since Stride Rite left the mall, it has been challenging to have my kid’s feet measured every year. Fortunately Von Maur has a large selection of kids shoes (and free measurements), including Sketcher’s, Bogs, Kenneth Cole Reaction, Hunter boots and many more! I can find shoes for any season for all my kids at Von Maur, and a good price too.
