Simple Steps for Better Sleep

The most important thing you can do for better sleep is sticking to a consistent sleep schedule. Go to bed and wake up at the same time each day. I try to do this myself, and I definitely emphasize this for my kids and their developing brains. It’s lights out by 9:00 for my kids, and they are ready to rise and shine every day at 7:00 am.  If you keep a regular sleep-wake schedule you’ll feel much more refreshed and energized. than if you sleep the same number of hours at different times. This is true even if you only alter your sleep schedule by an hour or two.

Limit Screen Time Before Bed

My kids and I both obviously love their screen time. When it comes to getting ready for bed, we limit their screen time to at least one hour before bedtime, to avoid overstimulation. Melatonin naturally occurring hormone controlled by light exposure that helps regulate your sleep-wake cycle. Melatonin is secreted when it is dark, and light from a TV or tablet can limit melatonin production. To get the best sleep you can, sleep in a room that is dark.

Use AllerEase Pillows and Protectors

When it comes to my daughter, she has a terrible time with both food and environmental allergies. Eliminating allergens (especially dust mites and ragweed) from her environment definitely has made a difference in both how she sleeps, and how she feels during the day. Our allergist recommends using a zippered allergen-barrier mattress protector like the AllerEase Maximum to prevent dust mites, pollen and pet dander from collecting in her mattress. By implementing this, we have noticed a huge improvement in her sleep!

Not only does AllerEase make protectors for pillows and mattresses, but they also make comforters and pillows too! Given how prevalent allergens are here in the Midwest, we want to do everything we can to prevent the allergens from affecting her sleep. Michigan Petite Fashion and Lifestyle Blog | AllerEase Bedding | Allerease Mattress Protector | AllerEase Review

  1. I’m a terrible sleeper – partly due to not relaxing for a while before going to bed but also partly allergy related so maybe I need to think about using mattress and pillow protectors on my bed…

  2. The right sleep conditions definitely makes a difference. My youngest son has been suffering with allergies ever since Harvey hit and Houston flooded. He’s been on meds all year, but I never thought of a hypoallergenic pillow for him. He’s worse at night so I’m going to check this out.

  3. The right sleep conditions are so important. My toddler son has some seasonal allergies that we noticed last summer. I’m going to check these products out.

  4. My husband and my eldest son suffer from allergies – especially to dust, bed bugs, and pollen. I would want to try those Allerease mattress protector, comforter and pillow cases. Maybe this will relieve them of their symptoms and give them the restful sleep they need at night.

  5. Oooh, this bed set just looks divine. Is it available for internationall shipping anywhere? (I live in Japan)

    1. Thank you! As for international shipping, I’m not sure – Amazon does sell it and you’d have to see if they ship to Japan.

  6. I have an allease comforter for the allergy reasons actually. It’s made a huge difference in my ability to breath as has not having carpet! Sleep is so important!

  7. These are useful suggestions. Fortunately, lately I have a good sleep routine but I would love to try this collection for even better night rests.

  8. That comforter sounds amazing! I have been trying to limit screen time before bed as well by reading a good book!

  9. I have never heard of allerease. Im going to have to check it out i could really use a better nights sleep.
