The Importance of A Good Night’s Rest
It is well known that how well you sleep directly affects your physical and mental health, as well as your overall quality of life. If you fall short on sleep, it can take a serious toll on your daytime energy, productivity, and emotional balance. With a growing body of science around the importance of sleep, Americans everywhere are seeking ways to improve their sleep routines – often referred to as “sleep hygiene.” So what are some simple steps you can do to ensure you are getting the best rest possible?
Simple Steps for Better Sleep
The most important thing you can do for better sleep is sticking to a consistent sleep schedule. Go to bed and wake up at the same time each day. I try to do this myself, and I definitely emphasize this for my kids and their developing brains. It’s lights out by 9:00 for my kids, and they are ready to rise and shine every day at 7:00 am. If you keep a regular sleep-wake schedule you’ll feel much more refreshed and energized. than if you sleep the same number of hours at different times. This is true even if you only alter your sleep schedule by an hour or two.
Limit Screen Time Before Bed
My kids and I both obviously love their screen time. When it comes to getting ready for bed, we limit their screen time to at least one hour before bedtime, to avoid overstimulation. Melatonin naturally occurring hormone controlled by light exposure that helps regulate your sleep-wake cycle. Melatonin is secreted when it is dark, and light from a TV or tablet can limit melatonin production. To get the best sleep you can, sleep in a room that is dark.
Use AllerEase Pillows and Protectors
When it comes to my daughter, she has a terrible time with both food and environmental allergies. Eliminating allergens (especially dust mites and ragweed) from her environment definitely has made a difference in both how she sleeps, and how she feels during the day. Our allergist recommends using a zippered allergen-barrier mattress protector like the AllerEase Maximum to prevent dust mites, pollen and pet dander from collecting in her mattress. By implementing this, we have noticed a huge improvement in her sleep!
Not only does AllerEase make protectors for pillows and mattresses, but they also make comforters and pillows too! Given how prevalent allergens are here in the Midwest, we want to do everything we can to prevent the allergens from affecting her sleep.
You can see she feels quite at home with her AllerEase bedding! She especially loves her pillows too.
Her AllerEase comforter fits perfectly inside her duvet. I love knowing that her environment is protected, but at the same time she get the bedroom that she wants as a tween!
AllerEase is offering a $5 discount on Maximum Mattress Protectors at Kohl’s, Target, Walmart and Meijer. To take advantage of the offer, visit AllerEase or check your mail or newspaper for a coupon on August 5 and August 19.
As always, thanks for stopping by!
