Scarves and Ponchos For Winter
I see so many of my blogging friends who live in warmer climates lamenting about the lack of cooler weather. If you want cold weather, come to Michigan as we have plenty of it. I can’t complain right now though as the fall scenery is nothing short of amazing to see. But winter is just around the corner literally – gasp! We are supposed to get 2-4 inches of snow tomorrow! So today’s post is all about bundling up in style with the season’s warmest and most stylish scarves and ponchos. I love wearing a nice warm scarf or poncho in the winter as it really does keep you so much warmer, and wearing one is such a fun way to add color, interest, and dimension to any outfit!
Ann Taylor Windowpane Scarf
Ann Taylor is having their Friends of Ann Event which means it is a great time to shop. You can get 40% off your entire purchase with code FRIENDS40. I picked up this poncho during the last Ann Taylor sale. This poncho caught my eye because of it’s striking plaid windowpane pattern. I bought it with the idea of wearing it with black jeans or leggings on a cold, chilly day. The plaid pattern provides a nice contrast against black.
What I really like about this poncho is that it is warm! Perfect for a day running errands, or a chilly day at the office. My only critique is it does shed a bit the first time wearing it.
As for the rest of my outfit, I am wearing this Ann Taylor button cuff sweater. This is just a nice basic cream sweater that you can mix and match with layers for many different looks. And it has a really nice button detail on the sleeves (not seen in this picture). This sweater also comes in black and scarlet. As for my jeans, I am wearing my favorite petite-friendly J. Brand skinny jeans. The black jeans provide a really nice contrast to this poncho.
More Fall/Winter Ponchos
As for other eye-catching ponchos this season, I also like this soft and cozy plaid blanket poncho. This classic plaid poncho from Ann Taylor would look great with jeans and a turtleneck. And I love the fringe detail. This contrast-tipped cape is a great way to add a level of refinement to any look. This plaid poncho from BP at Nordstrom is nice because it also doubles as a scarf. This timeless poncho coat from Ann taylor comes in camel and grey. The perfect poncho for a brief walk from the car to work or for short errands. And for a dressier look for the holidays and beyond, I absolutely love this windowpane plaid cape from Draper James.
C by Bloomingdales Cashmere Scarf
If there is one scarf to have in your closet that you never want to part with, it is a cashmere scarf. Many years ago I bought my first Burberry cashmere scarf. I wore that scarf for years, and I was dismayed when I accidentally donated it in a move. I’ve never quite wanted to fork over the money for that kind of scarf again. So when I saw this C by Bloomingdales scarf in a pretty gray/pink/burgundy pattern, I knew I had to have it. This scarf is so soft and warm. It is lightweight enough though to easily style with a sweater and a trench coat. If pink/burgundy isn’t quite your style this scarf also comes in an ivory color and a gray color.
This scarf is a slight investment, but right now Bloomingdales is having their Private Sale. With this offer you can take $25 off every $100 you spend with code PRIVATE
I get a lot of questions about the trench I am wearing. This trench is from Express from last year. I love this trench as it is similar in quality to my Burberry trench. Express has updated their classic trench for this year, and it comes in three new colors. And right now Express is offering 40% off your entire purchase (no code necessary). A beige trench coat is a closet staple! If you love the light beige color, I also really like this one from Sam Edelman. It has some extra details, including pockets with zippers, a belt with holes, and leather belt loops that make this coat classic yet distinctive.
This is the photoshoot that almost didn’t happen! We were all set to take the photos. It was barely sprinkling so I stood under a tree. Then a torrential downpour started to happen! This was literally the fastest photoshoot we ever did!
As for more classic fall/winter scarves, I absolutely love this Free People rib knit blanket scarf scarf (see how I styled last year’s version in this post). Get two scarves in one with this colorful plaid BP reversible scarf. And you can add pattern and texture to any outfit with this cozy check blanket scarf.
